It's My Birthday!

A Letter To Myself On My Birthday!

“You’ll learn, as you get older, that rules are made to be broken. Be bold enough to live life on your terms, and never, ever apologize for it. Go against the grain, refuse to conform, take the road less traveled instead of the well-beaten path. Laugh in the face of adversity, and leap before you look. Dance as though EVERYBODY is watching. March to the beat of your own drummer. And stubbornly refuse to fit in.” – Mandy Hale

Pandemic Birthdays

Well first off all- let me first and foremost wish myself a very happy 29th birthday to Merey from Merey! ( I know I’m a lot!)

Last year in my 30’s- I literally remember how I never thought I would ever reach my 21st birthday and look at me now!

8 years to the day since I’ve been (legally) drinking- AHH TO BE YOUNG AGAIN.

I remember when I was younger thinking by the age of 23 I would be married (just like Nick and Jessica)- and probably have about 2 kids by now……LOL

Anyways- being that its 2020 and this year has been “less than traditional”- does this year of age count!?!?!

Only kidding- If you know me you know I just LOVE my birthday, even if I cannot experience it the way I would normally, but for me this year that is more than okay, as there are much bigger things going on in the world. So, yes I don’t “need” the big party this year like I had last year.

HAHA to all of you thinking- “Well sweetie that great you don’t “need” the big party because you aren’t getting it because of COVAID.” So yes, Covaid YOU “took the party” but you TAUGHT ME a shit ton of IMPERATIVE life lessons this year, all while living through a Global Pandemic and for that I am grateful.

What I had originally intended to do for this blog post- was to write to my 2019 “self” warning myself not to come into 2020 because the year was “a wash” or “the worst yet.”I thought it might be a funny comical way to look back on the year of the “worsts” or even a “Learn to appreciate the little things”blog post but once I started writing, I started to realize that there actually was a-lot of positive growth that happened, at least for me- so I know the same goes for you as well!

This unintended “exercise” helped me to have some further perspective and clarity on 2020, learning that although it was untraditional that does not mean the entire year is a waste- instead the opposite! This year has taught us all so much, and it’s not all bad- in fact a-lot of good!

While yes- it seems as though the lives we once lived may not ever return-but for the first time I am trying to look at that as a positive. Maybe the world was telling us all- that the way we were living was not sustainable and that’s because we couldn’t slow down ourselves, the universe had to force us to.

Look for the lessons and silver linings everywhere

Never Prepared Enough

Like anything in life you will never ever be 100% prepared for whatever it throws at you, ESPECIALLY THE TOUGH and UNEXPECTED TIMES!

For me this letter helped me to focus not solely on all that has been taken or all that is out of our control- but instead I am learning about resilience- and that there is nothing we have yet to not overcome that has been thrown our way.

I mean think about- look at your life- look where you are now- you survived it all didn’t you?

There is nothing you have faced yet, that you haven’t overcome, correct?

If you are standing here (or reading this) – the answer is YES, there is nothing you haven’t yet overcome in life- pretty powerful right?

REMEMBER THAT.

With that, remember to always TAKE THE LESSON that life’s challenges are trying to teach YOU or else you will continue to be taught them!!

TAKE THE LESSON

If you can do this- you are already on your way to a life free from fear and into fulfillment.

A Letter To Me From Me On My Birthday

Hi 2019 Merey! WHATS UP BETCH!!!

It’s me-2020 Merey writing you from the future!!

(very Zenon Carr girl from the 21st century Vibes here) Disney fans you know!!!

Initially upon writing this I wanted to WARN to just stay in 2019 but then I would rob you of all the IMPERATIVE LIFE LESSONS that you have learned this year- no matter how hard they are, and believe me this year will be your hardest to date! (ROSE ALL DAY!!)

You however will not be alone, no matter how “alone” it sometimes feels as everyone in the world will also be affected by “The Big C” named Corona-Virus. You haven’t met “The Big C” yet you have just heard ramblings about it but you don’t buy into those- (can’t get anything past you can they?!)

I mean you were just rubbing elbows with hundreds of strangers at the annual 2019 NYC Christmas lighting-am I right!?!? Anytime your pal Frank tried to warn you about Corona or Wuhan- you simply say “Corona- Who!?!”

OH Honey you will meet her.

Right about now you’re finishing the final touches preparing for your Bravo Themed Birthday party where you’ll squeeze 40 people into your 400 Sq ft condo- MASKLESS!

Oh also EVERYONE wears masks in 2020 now- ALOT of people also complain about it which can be annoying but all good (:

2019 was an up and down year, you quit your corporate job, and now your perceived biggest challenge of 2020 would be simply just launching Mereygo-round.

HAHAHAHAH

So fast forward to December 2020- welcome to reality BETCH!!!! THE BIG C named Corona is here!!!!!

So in great news- you not only launched your blog last February but you have now had it for roughly 10 months and 9 of the months have been in a pandemic!

Remember back in 2019 when you thought you would never have the courage to launch it??

 YOU DID IT

You not just DID IT but you have over 35 POSTS! YOU DID WHAT YOU FEARED!! #weirdbrag.

I mean think about it the thing you feared the most you have done 35 TIMES SINCE! #overcomingfear

Remember when you couldn’t find your Niche and were told your entering an oversaturated market of blogging?

Well you found your niche- with patience and gut intuition, you are currently enrolled in a Life Coach Academy(IPEC) and are working towards becoming a Certified Life Coach!

YES YOU, who didn’t have a niche this time last year!

I know I know! 2019 Merey is probably in a panic wondering what will happen to the Mereygo-round.com once the life coach business starts?!

FEAR NOT 2019 MEREY- Mereygo-round.com will stay you are just expanding it from a blog to a full -service coaching business!!!!( International lifestyle brands are not just for Sonja Morgan am I right!!?!?) (RHONY joke)

So yeah- 2019 Merey- remember when you were petrified to even Launch ONE BLOG- now your starting your own coaching business!?!?

 I know what you’re thinking

“I thought 2020 was cancelled? You accomplished all of this during a global pandemic?!?!? “

See what I’ve learned is that when you put everything that you have accomplished from pen to paper it does provide a unique perspective to how much you have achieved even when it feels like NOTHING! (Often I have a hard time remembering!)

IN FACT when I went to pen this letter I thought it would be a letter about all that I had MISSED THIS YEAR.

The funny thing is no matter how good the above accomplishments look on paper in reality you have actually been REALLY hard on yourself the past few months, like REALLY, REALLY HARD, not even acknowledging what you have accomplished in 2020 until now that is ):

You’ve also doubted yourself A LOT in 2020 which I wish you wouldn’t.

You’ve questioned your work ethic and measured your success by “How productive I am each day” shaming yourself on days where you aren’t at “your absolute peak performance.”

You got mad at yourself for having anxious bouts you couldn’t seem to kick feeling “weak.”

You compared yourself A LOT to others and what they are doing, instead of focusing on what YOU ARE DOING. #sigh

YEP DURING A GLOBAL PANDEMIC you have done all of the above^^

Anyways 2020– has brought you a lot of insight and perspective that you may not have realized at the time how much you needed it.

You may also have thought of 2020 as a “wasted year” but it was anything but- I mean see above #perspective.

You have learned how resilient you are in spite of all the fear, anxiety and negative self- talk and doubts.

You are by no means a saint- and despite the many, many mental breakdowns over the year – most notably in August (Lol) you have showed that you will not give up and will continue to prioritize self- care and mental health.

Oh Merey- your passion will often get you into wonky waters, and initially you will feel a great sense of hesitation when speaking out on matters that mean the most to you out of fear of rejection– but quickly you will realize that one of the most important things in life is to uphold your values, and to fight to protect them at all costs.

The cost may be at the price of being liked, and your learning that is more than okay (this one is really hard.)

“If You’re liked by everyone then you have never stood for SOMETHING.”

You will continue to stand for what you believe, even in the face of rejection.

 Passions and Purpose

Merey- you will have people misinterpret your passion and may call it “dramatics” or “hysterics” but you know your truth and you will let that set you free.Your passion unfortunately may be mistaken for judgement, or others may feel threatened by it in some sort of way (projections, projections, projections) but you’re learning “it’s better to be hated for who you are then loved for something you are not.”

This year you really learned who respects your boundaries and your values, and who doesn’t. You will show those who don’t the Door (kindly)

You will learn who your true friends are (this is one of life’s most painful journeys) In the sad journey of losing friends,  you will grow to cherish your friendships that much more!

I mean- YOU have the BEST FRIENDS.

You have friends who unconditionally SUPPORT YOU and who lift you UP with random morning texts after they finished their A.M. workout class that go as follows;

“ My workout instructor shouted this out today and it reminded me of you and only YOU”,

I want to shout out anyone that’s been called intense or too passionate… you are the reason the world changed for the better!”

(This ties into your 2020 life motto of “If your liked by everyone, then you’ve never stood for anything.”)

Merey- In 2020 you will be judged and you will judge (unfair to do right!?)

But you will realize this is all a learning curve for everyone, and mostly everyone is truly TRYING THEIR BEST(including YOU!)

Some days you will feel like SUPERWOMEN and that the possibilities are unlimited ( they are!)

Some days- You will TRY your very best but will still feel like you accomplished nothing. (but you STILL tried your best and that’s all you can do really!)

You are learning to love yourself regardless of how productive or un-productive you were as long as you give it the best you can.

After all and I want you to think about this;

Isn’t doing the best we can do, given the circumstance of that day and that particular situations that arise- isn’t that all we can really do in life?

Our day in and day out level of productivity will vary- we are HUMANS AFTER ALL NOT MACHINES producing productivity……

I mean we cannot do better than our very best can we!?!?

Do Your Best

Merey you are confronting some of your greatest fears(like fear of rejection) but your moving through those fears realizing all the opportunities that are on the other side!

Merey you will often get overwhelmed by the amount of problems the world has and feel it’s up to you to solve them all, allowing you to feel completely helpless.

You will then realize- all of the world’s problems aren’t on your shoulders, and it isn’t up to you to solve everything, but you can always make a difference no matter how small.

You- **you started** to work on realizing that you are powerless over the actions of others and that all you can control is your reaction.

^^May I emphasize this is really an area of improvement for the future you LOL ( HELLO POLITICS.)

Merey- You are learning that you can be alone without being lonely- and often when we don’t want to be alone is when we need it the most!

Merey you realized that FEAR convinced you that you had limits- instead you now know you are limitless- and when free from fear you are in fulfillment.

Merey you still experience anxiety (I am sorry to tell you) but you have tirelessly worked to better understand its root cause  and ways to avoid it from coming or to be able to manage when it’s there.

You will never stop raising awareness for how debilitating anxiety can be and towards helping others know they are not alone in this battle.

Merey- you are learning how to let go of what no longer serves you in life.

Merey You are a fierce protector of your energy and you do not allow anyone who poses a threat to your anabolic (positive) energy to take residence in your life.

Merey You have realized that the only thing standing in your WAY is YOU and your thoughts.

Merey You are learning, that thoughts are simply just thoughts and nothing more. They do not control the tone for your life, they are just thoughts constantly passing through.

Merey your choosing YOU every day, ALL DAY, showing up for YOU always and most importantly believing in your full potential.

Merey You are doing your very best.

What more could you ask for of your future self?

In Conclusion

I encourage each and everyone one of YOU to write yourself a letter from your 2020 self to your 2019 self! See how far you have actually come instead of looking at what you perceive to be as a wasted year. Nothing in life happens by accident, and i find it very important to take the lesson- or you’ll continue to be taught it!

Take time to APPRECIATE all that you have and take time to mind your mind- during these trying times.

Perspective is everything.

Just remember- this to shall pass…..

There is nothing you have yet to not over-come.

Remember That
